Kier's Move (Part the First)
OK, here's how it's going to go...
This won't be the most organized or elegant move I've done. Without a doubt, it will pale in comparison to the fast and surgical strike that moved me across the county into this place three and a half years ago, but it will get things to the new apartment, which is more or less across the parking lot from the current one.
I'll have a nice little UHaul pick up all day on Friday. While most of you are at work, I'm planning on schlepping boxes on my own. Why? Because I this is short notice, on a Friday, and I haven't made it to help bunches of you move over the past year or so. More importantly, I'm planning on reusing boxes--so it's going to be move, dump, repack, repeat... and I don't really expect anyone to have to put up with that.
Of course, all y'all are more than welcome to drop by at any time, even if it is to just point and laugh. :)
Later in the day, after work for those who have it, it would be great if I could have four or five of you to help with the big things--my couch, Luka's desk, my bed, my old TV. If we don't get them on Friday, there'll be another call for Sunday (the last day I have to move things before I turn in the keys).
No pressure to show up. No hard feelings if you don't. Worst case scenario, I get some of the delinquents that hang out on the stoop to haul things and give 'em a few bucks so they don't break in and steal it later.
And, hey, if you show up, I'll probably put in an order for food of some sort (or you can bring some if you're so inclined... I'm not going to complain either way).
If all goes well, I may even get to have some fun over the weekend.
Note: Depending on how many people show up, you may not even have to lift anything--you may just get to paw through my stuff, getting it a little organized in the new place so I can reuse the boxes.
