Kier's Move (Part the Second: The Unpackening)

Boxes, ready to be unpacked. So the move the other week went very well. Much more smoothly than expected. Mostly due to the wonderful friends who turned up--some all day--to move stuff with great effectiveness.

The bulk of stuff was moved Friday night. Enough of it that I could go out of town on Saturday to relax a bit at a friend's party. Sunday I moved the last batches of random stuff--kitchen things, a forgotten bunch of clothes--and began the cleaning process of the old place. That was done on Monday.

Now, I'm firmly into the unpacking phase.

This could take a while.

Mostly because I really want to cut down on the amount of stuff I'm going to have to move next time... and that means at least consolidating all the partially full boxes I've discovered I have. (And probably getting rid of another box or two of magazines... but that's going to be difficult. Because I have, well, issues, apparently.)

But, ever since that Friday night, I've had a bed to sleep in. Shortly thereafter the living room was mostly set up. The kitchen is in decent shape, thoguh the breakfast nook still has a lot of stuff that needs to be put away.

My books are mostly all on shelves, but in no real order. That has to change. Once upon a time, I had them well grouped. I want that order back. The walk in closet in the bedroom is also a random repository of unsorted boxes.

And there are pictures that need to be hung. And stuff.

I'm thinking I'll have a kind of low-key open house type apartment warming on Halloween proper (that's a Sunday). Nothing official, just an excuse for people to drop by.

Probably in the spring, when funds will allow, I'll throw a real party (finally). Maybe I'll even get around to my long-threatened Evil Dead a thon.

Things are still chaotic. But, as the month draws to a close, everything is slowly falling into place. Almost like the world outside--settling in for the winter.
