Live Music

I don't often go to live shows.

It's not that I don't like doing it, I just don't care enough to justify the expense. But, I won a free ticket to catch Nitzer Ebb, Ego Likeness, and Anders Manga perform at Jaxx in Springfield last Sunday. Luckily, I managed to snag a ride down there and was lucky enough to find someone going my way (more or less) for the trip back home. It was a good time.

Not that you can really tell from the pictures, all the bands have a pretty darn good stage presence, which is something I appreciate greatly. And the music and enthusiasm of the people who make an effort to come out the shows--amazing. There were a couple of very enthusiastic Germans there who made the mosh pit a bit interesting and kept trying to do things that work better at much larger shows.

I think I've now seen Ego Likeness almost as much in their home town (here in the DC area) as I have in Atlanta (where I first saw them at Dragon Con, never thinking that a good bunch of the people I'd eventually know grew up with them).

Some nostalgic music

I'm not really a music person.

My taste is, at best, eclectic. Things catch my attention because they have an interesting beat or tune or sound in general. I like things that have interesting lyrics or, depending on whether I hear it on the radio or in a club or see it on YouTube or (rarely) some television channel, an interesting look.

Danish band Aqua falls into a number of these categories.Read more
