Gnostica, A Tarot Card Game

This looks like a really neat game. It uses the Tarot cards as an ever-changing landscape in a territory control strategy game. Each suit has certain abilities that can be used to further your goal of controlling at least nine points worth of territory. I may have to trot this out at a future game night--I certainly have enough decks of Tarot cards I don't use for anything else. Just need to get my hands on some of those Icehouse counters.

So much wrapped up in so little

There's a simple little web page out there called Telescopic Text set up by Joe Davis. I just came across it today and it is absolutely brilliant in illustrating something we all take for granted.

Within every moment and every action there are many smaller moments and action. Most of them, we glide over, paying them no mind. In the name of expediency, we reduce things down to their most basic, their most terse.

Be a spiky person

A really neat quote from Bruce Sterling:

Don't become a well-rounded person. Well-rounded people are smooth and dull. Become a thoroughly spiky person. Grow spikes from every angle. Stick in their throats like a puffer fish…. Learn about the stuff that was buried because it was too experimental or embarrassing or inexplicable.

I like that. I like that a lot.
